His death makes me very sad as, of course, I knew him well.
I never met him, having only met one half of Kamps and Porter :-), but studied a lot of his work closely, and really respected it. I believe that Puppe was his PhD advisor, but it is clear that Kan was a big influence too. Do you know any more about that, Tim, or about what Kan thought of Kamps’ work?
Yes, Puppe was his supervisor (I’ve added the Genealogy link.) I have no idea what Kan thought, but Kan had started to concentrate on simplicial things early so the cubical stuff may not have seemed that important to Kan. I just do not know.
