    I’ve removed 2 spam links from this page. One just happened from 197.95.147.172 in South Africa while the other dates to Rev#6 in 2011.

    @RodMcGuire, re. #2: Thanks, I’ve just updated the spam filter accordingly.

  2. I have now removed the revisions from the database, and snipped Rod’s comment in #2 to remove the actual spam links (as I think this may possibly sometimes attract the spammers to return).

    I believe spammers want real links to the sites they are promoting because that promotes their page rank.

    My comment contained the text of the link URLs, not actual links. I can’t see how a blacklist text encourages spam visits unless the spammers are really stupid.

    Actually publishing such URL texts may help decrease spam on the web to such sites because it may turn up in a Google search for “spam” <site name>.
