This article does not make sense. What is the third derivative of a smooth function valued in an arbitrary smooth manifold?
This could go with more explanation, but it does make sense. This terminology and this whole topic of differential geometry of curves in is a little bit like a mathematical “living fossil”: It’s treatment dates from the ancient days of Gauss and hasn’t changed much since.
I have added a line
See the references at differential geometry of curves and surfaces.
Also fixed the link to Wikipedia: Our Instiki parser fails when confronted with [linktext](url)
when there are parenthesis in the url. One has to do something else in this case, such as escape the parenthesis or fall back to HTML.
I think I missed “cartesian” on the first reading. Do we really need such an article?
I find it doesn’t hurt, but it would sure be more fun if we knew where Anonymous means to go with these entries.
