Going through the list at http://ncatlab.org/nlab/file_list, I see that the server serves most files as the appropriate mime type based on the extension (.gif
, .jpg
, .pdf
, .png
) but others are simply served as application/octet-stream
(.css
, .djvu
, .dot
, .ps
, .svg
, .xml
). Can we edit this to add to the recognised file types?
I know that you can't always guess a document type from its extension, so the Right Way to fix this is to have the mime type entered (or at least confirmed) upon upload. (For example, lctvs.dot
appears to be a GraphViz file, not a Microsoft document template; to avoid confusion, it could be renamed lctvs.gv
, but clarifiction upon upload would also work.) However, this is more work for the uploader and would surely require modifying Instiki itself.
In the meantime, I would like my browser to recognise PostScript and DjVu files.
