    stub for BV-algebra

    Hochschild cohomology does in general not carry a BV algebra structure. For instance the Hochschild cohomology of the free algebra in two variables k<x,y> over a field k, is a counter-example. It is concentrated in degrees 1 and 0 and since HH^1 contains a Lie subalgebra isomorphic to gl_2, the Gerstenhaber bracket cannot be induced by a BV second order operator.

    In the respective paragraph (here) I have:

    • carried over the disclaimer “in good cases” from the preceding paragraph;

    • added pointer to the respective reference items (which were listed before, but not pointed to from the main text).

    Of course, it would be worthwhile to expand on this point much more.
