The nnLab entry geometric realization of simplicial topological spaces had been submitted to the Publications of the nLab.

The referee has now sent a report and agreed to make it publically available.

The report and further information can be found at

geometric realization of simplicial topological spaces – Submission Entry

The referee is requesting small changes and additions before reconsidering the article.

Since this is a third-party submission of nnLab material, everybody is encouraged to react to the report and edit the entry accordingly.

Umm, things are setup so that people cannot see geometric realization of simplicial topological spaces – Submission Entry without a password.

This link works without a password.

That’s a bug that should be fixed. Not sure if it is the forum software or the instiki software going wrong.

But you should see a page that asks for a passwork but also provides a liunk to the read-only version. No?

No. The ’bad’ link takes you to a login page where you can click ’read-only version’ if you don’t have a login. Doing so takes you to the Publications Home Page, not the intended link. (Then you have to search through the Home Page to see if there is some readable link to what was intended.)

Anyway, until someone can determine whether a real software problem exists and how to fix it, such links should be given in the ’/published/’ form, not the ’/show/’ form.

Yes, and that is the software problem. The link in my above comment was coded as

[[publications:geometric realization of simplicial topological spaces|geometric realization of simplicial topological spaces -- Submission Entry]]

and the software should automatically make this point to the “published” not the “show” version.

that is precisely the software problem.

Until the software is “fixed” you need to put such readable ’/published/’ links in by hand using the ’a’ tag: e.g.

    <a href="http://ncatlab.org/publications/published/geometric+realization+of+simplicial+topological+spaces">...</a>

The software seems to be doing the right thing by generating ’/show/’ links, however for some reason they are unreadable without a login.

EDIT: I can guess that the reason that generated ’/show/’ links are unreadable without a login is that the pages don’t exist. The normal Instiki action when you follow a non-existent ’/show/’ link is to throw you into editing a new page. It is this editing action that requires a login.

As this is off-topic, I’ve answered in a new discussion.

    using the ’a’ tag

    Or using Markdown:

is simply excellent. I’ve never seen such a high quality, transparency and cleanness in any of the journals I’ve met in my career. I’m moved.
