Is there any literature concerned specifically with those schemes that are “locally étale contractible” in that they have a hypercover by schemes that are contractible in étale homotopy?

I have looked around a bit and found stuff related to Berkovich spaces, but I don’t yet understand to which extent these are generally of relevance.

What I would like to know is if the category of locally étale contractible schemes is large enough to be of general interest, or if it is way too small.

Or asked in yet another way: could anyone give a good list of examples of classes of schemes that are locally étale contractible, such as to give an idea of what this class contains? Thanks.

I have started an entry analytic space with some material on Berkochich’s non-rigid analytic geometry.
