Started the article parity complex.
There is the original article and the corrigenda. There is also a number of later articles which give a presentation of the notion of parity complex in more intuitive terms, but not listing the axioms. I remember Street doing this presentation and saying that the axioms are not quite the same as in the original article. I am sorry, that I do not have now the articles in front of the me to substantiate, but this alluded change in axioms made me never learn this subject well. I hope you could instruct us how to follow this subject with the confusion wiped out.
Nice, thank you Todd!
Zoran, the axioms that I listed weren’t changed in the corrigenda. When I was in Australia in 1994 and 1995, we talked a bit about this paper, and I don’t think he had any further amendments to make at the time.
The “original article” he referred to when you heard him talk might have been the Macquarie Report, as mentioned in the introduction to his article.
Mainly I want to talk about the article in a general way, and particularly about what “freely generated” means here, as it isn’t so easy to describe this in terms of a left adjoint to a forgetful functor. I will try to do an accurate job, but I’ve never found it an easy article to read!
