I happen to want to have some mathematics typesetting with exponents and subscripts in section-headlines of an entry. But at least on my system, the result looks a little awkward in the table of contents.
To see what I mean, check out the Sandbox, where I have insered a TOC with some headlines of the kind that I need. On my system, the space around the exponent itself is much too large. It looks a bit like in those old typewriter-written math documents.
Is this just my system? Do you see the problem also on your system?
It looks okay to me, I think. In the subscript-in-superscript ones, the or is raised up a bit more than it is in the section headlines themselves, but I don’t think it looks terrible.
This appears to be related to a bug in how mozilla renders MathML when it is in a link. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=504324 for details. A cursory glance didn’t lead to an immediate solution - I experimented a bit via FireBug but couldn’t figure out the right combination. I’ll try some more but thought it worth linking to what appears to be the explanation - someone else might figure it out in the meantime!
Okay, I see. Thanks!
