We ended up with two entries on Paul-André Melliès. One did not have the hyphen. I did a redirect to the older one which has the hyphenation.

I have renamed the new one into the needed page amalgamation property. but the cache bug has now still Paul André Melliès, despite the redirect at Paul-André Melliès.

Perhaps we should put some active links in the list of interests at Paul-André Melliès. I do not know what he is woring on at the moment, as I have not seen him since the Luminy meeting earlier this year.

Zoran, you seem to have made it into amalgamation theory, but there was already amalgamation property. (Actually, that page was at amalgamation, but that term should redirect to pushout, which I have now made it do.)

I must have been absent minded in creating “theory” version. I will fix that soon.

On the other hand, I find it discuttable that “amalgamation” should redirect to pushout. Amalgam should redirect to pushout, I agree. But in combinatorial group theory and other field where amalgam is used instead of pushout, I did not see occurence of “amalgamation” (maybe I did, but not commonly). Amalgamation is not amalgam. Amalgamation is a common name for several procedures in model theory, related to amalgams. Namely there is so called “higher amalgamation” of Hrushovski which is combinatorially more involved. It does not boil down to the usual pushouts, though it has some diagrams which look like involving iterations of it.

Can I suggest that the amalgamation discussion be continued in a fresh entry as it will get hidden here.

The terminology most often encountered in my trips into (combinatorial) group theory has been usually ’free product with amalgamated subgroup’.
