Before we do the full migration, I want some sort of terms/warranty/get-out-of-jail-free card. Since I'm now the person whose name is on the server, I want some sort of "It wasn't me, guv" notice. Something along the lines of:

By posting material to this site, you agree that: 1) you own the copyright to the material that you post, 2) you absolve us [me, nlab, railsplayground] of all responsibility for the material that you post, 3) you grant us an unrevocable license to use, distribute, and modify what you post, 4) you will not post offensive or illegal material, nor the means to obtain offensive or illegal material.

The nLab is provided as a service to the community. It is provided AS IS with no warranty, implicit or otherwise.

I guess that Toby's at the extreme opposite position to me so I figure if we can come to some sort of agreement then we're probably going to be okay with most everyone else.

You could put everything in my name, and then I could write what I need to cover my own butt.

Do you know what country the hosting server is in?

I think that I'll write that anyway, just so you can see what it would look like. As a first approximation, I'll assume that the server is in the U.S. (the same country as I'm in) unless you post otherwise.

It's a US-based company, and their servers are based in the US so I'm guessing that assuming US is okay (though, as I've discovered, that's not always a given!).

The 'terms and conditions' that I had to agree to upon sign-up can be found here.

Excellent. That's what I hoped you'd say. Basically, I want something that says "If anyone has any issues over the nLab, don't blame Andrew Stacey (and definitely don't sue him - he can't afford it)."

Is there a place to put text, including a link, on every page (including revisions and diffs)? And a separate place to put text, including a link, on every edit page (including new pages)?

I'll write two pages on the nlabmeta web, one for each of these, as if those pages were the targets of links from the above. (But in reality, these would have to be placed somewhere more secure, at least behind an editing password.) When I'm done, I'll link them from here appropriately.

We could alter the templates to do this. I don't think that that would be hard, nor break updates.

I would make these pages static. Not everything has to be done on a wiki!
