I noticed a strange thing at homotopy type theory. The latest revision is by Steve Awodey, which is in grey as if he was not assigned an entry, yet further up in the text on that page his name is in green and there is an active link to the page on him. I am just curious as to why this is.

We had an nLab page on Steve (as we do for many mathematicians), but perhaps he hasn’t subscribed yet.

What’s a bit odd is that if you hover over the question mark, the link is to http://ncatlab.org/nlab/new/SteveAwodey. That is, without the space. However the name has the space in it.

I just tried on experimenters (doriath): if you forget the space then the software adds it in. That is, if you write MyName then the software converts it to My Name when it displays it, but not in the link. So Steve must have written SteveAwodey in the author field.

A simple solution is to add the redirect SteveAwodey to the page Steve Awodey.

Right, this is a feature for people who are used to wikis with CamelCase. We don't use CamelCase, but if you expect many of your users to be used to that, then you want the software to fix their CamelCase when they type it. That's what instiki does. (Actually, it could go further; it could recognize CamelCase without brackets as a link, which is how the original wiki does it.)

That’s one of the options for instiki. The main nLab has that turned off.

It still shows as being in grey! I tried in another browser. (Is it a cache problem?)

    That’ll be the cache.
