I think this is not the intended behaviour and it would be nice if this could be changed back: as long as a web is not explicitly password protected, it should offer all readers the "edit" button. But more seriously is this: currently whenever such a link points to the nLab itself, one gets the message that "a published version of the nLab does not exist". This is bad. I would say that inter-web links should go to "show," unless the destination web is both (a) password protected and (b) published, in which case they should go to "published". Actually, I'm a bit confused about why it is possible for a web to be non-password-protected but also published.
