    Urs: Thanks. I did not know of his Wikipedia page.
    Ian was an old friend of mine and it was good to be reminded of his work. We went walking on the hills behind Manchester after the Liverpool Singularities meeting in the early 1970s. When it started to pour with rain, as it tends to in that part of the hills, Ian climbed the waterfalls rather than go around! He said it was no wetter.
