there was a broken pointer to “basic problems of algebraic topology” which I am removing hereby.
(It may be interesting to have such a page, and then we can still add a link, but it is pointless to have a broken link to a non-existent such page.)
added this quote, for fun:
I believe that we lack another analysis properly geometric or linear which expresses location directly as algebra expresses magnitude.
which Bredon 93, p. 430 says is due to Leibniz in a letter to Huygens 1679
Not sure what a real source reference would be. Googling for the full quote gives another topoloy textbook that also quotes it this way, but also without further reference details
added to the list of textbook accounts:

rearranged thw wording in this bibitem, for clarity, and added the doi-link:
Added reference
I did think it peculiar that where references should be in topological space, it simply said “see another article”. Another option might be just to copy appropriate bibliographic entries from topology and paste them at topological space.
best would be to create a separate entry topology – references with the bare references-section and then !include
it into these entries (also maybe at general topology). This way all updates to the list automatically get synced to all these entries
As Urs knows, topology – references has now been created.
