  1. I made a page about the E8 lattice and its application in sphere packing

added cross-link with lattice (discrete subgroup)

fixed capitalization throughout (notice that “Fields” in “Fields medal” is the name of a person: John Fields)

(but mundane events like “medals” are better listed on the author’s page, instead of on a mathematical page, I have moved the comment to Maryna Viazovska)

fixed spelling, readjusted wording and section headers

added the math formatting $...$ where missing and fixed it where present: notice that in a formula you don’t put every term into its own math environment inside a text line, but just enclose the whole formula in a single pair of $...$

merged the lines on sphere packings into a single subsection (now here) and adjusted the wording for clarity

added author, publisher and date to:

    • Ursula Whitcher, Eight-dimensional spheres and the exceptional E 8E_8, AMS MathVoices Feature Column (Sep. 2022) [web]

(this exposition would be more pertinent at sphere packing, so I am copying it to there)

added pointer to the actual article being referred to:

added redirect for “E8-lattice” (with the hyphen) so that the links long requested at shere packing problem now work

  2. Used unicode subscripts for indices of exceptional Lie groups including title and links. When not linked, usual formulas are used. See discussion here. Links will be re-checked after all titles have been changed. (Added redirects.)
