My question is whether there is a reference for this example in the entry, https://ncatlab.org/nlab/show/equivariant+elliptic+cohomology#2EquivariantEllipticCohomology which gives an example of 2-equivariant elliptic cohomology theory acted by string 2-group.

I am also a little curious whether the example is motivated by twisted equivariant Tate K-theory, which has similar form to the $\chi$-twisted $A$-cohomology spectrum given at the end of the section.

I wrote that section (here) in revision 13 in November 2013. Beyond the pointer to Lurie 2009 it does not invoke further references.

At that time I was developing related constructions as a research project titled Higher theta functions and higher CS-WZW holography.

But it wasn’t funded and the application process demoralized me, so that I haven’t develop this further (I switched to constructing M-theory, instead ;-).

But I am still fond of the ideas laid out behind the above link… as far as I can remember them now…

    I switched to constructing M-theory, instead ;-)

Should we expect results from the switch to make contact at some point with the earlier program?

    Could well be.
