Urs started pointless topology, and I continued it.
In noncommutative algebraic geometry we take a class of flat localizations having flat right adjoint which has its own right adjoint (“biflat affine localizations”) as generating some sort of topology; such localizations are analogues of open subsets. Would this qualify for a pointless topology ?
Could be. For me, the question is whether one could do everything with points, whether or not one does so. I’ve put in a hypothetical definition of “pointless topology”, so you can decide.
I have changed the entry name to point-free topology and made further slight variants redirects. Added pointer to Palmgren 05
