It would appear that the All Pages link is causing the recent hassles. As the nLab now stands at over 7000 pages, it is a lengthy list and is regenerated every time a new page is created. Its position on the HomePage makes it one of the first links that web bots get to, and it would appear that not all of them obey the robots.txt entry that says “Don’t click on this”.

So I have disabled it. It redirects to All Pages which is intended as a list of the current categories that we have (though it’s a bit of a mess at the moment, possibly because of categories with weird names, possibly because the script that I generated this from is not very intelligent).

We’ll see if that fixes things.

All Pages gives strange results, e.g. Galois theoryheory). My guess is that the code is messed up by the space. I tried http://ncatlab.org/nlab/list/Galois+theory and that works better.

Yes, I didn’t do any cleaning up of the code. I was concentrating on other aspects!

I will need the original All Pages list one of the days next week. Where to get it now when it is disabled ? Maybe the principal members of this project should have access to it via secret link distributed via email ?

    Is anybody here familiar with

    • TBX (markup language for terminology)

I was informed that the system around the terminological database in Croatia a group of mathematicians including me started contributing to is based on an implementation TBX (the very base uses MySQL, I was told). Any comments, say interoperability with wiki-like stuff, transfer of data, limitations, math ?

How up to date do you want that list to be? If it doesn’t have to be instantaneous, I can easily generate it for you.

It surely does not need to be that recent, a couple of week this or that direction (hm, future version would be fun) does not matter. :)

Okay, that’s easy enough then. Let me know when and in what format and I’ll generate it for you.
