Sometimes I want to look up a paper by Mike and encounter a page like this (as found at pseudotopological space). Is there a canonical fix for this type of glitch?

In general, change the “http://www.math.ucsd.edu/~mshulman” to “http://www.sandiego.edu/~shulman”. Although for that one I think the relative URL also changed, so it should be http://www.sandiego.edu/~shulman/papers/pstonecech.pdf. You can always go to my web site for up-to-date links, and you can always find my web site from my nlab page.

Thanks, Mike. I corrected the URL where I found it, and I suppose one could go through all such instances manually, but it would be neat if somehow one could be automatically redirected. Maybe that isn’t feasible?

UCSD unfriendily deleted my account very soon after I left, so I doubt it.

Yeah, typical sort of jerk behavior. Oh well.

I can do a database search on the nLab to find all occurrences. What would be the best thing to search for?

    Thanks, Andrew! I’m guessing

    math.ucsd.edu/~mshulman

ought to do the trick, unless Mike has a better idea.

Yeah, that should be fine. I’d be interested to hear how many of these links there are…

I searched for math.ucsd.edu/~mshulman and found 8 pages, which I changed. The resulting links all seem to work.

(I meant to report that I’d tried a database search but couldn’t get the format right with the special characters, but now that Toby’s figured it out I don’t need to mention that.)
