Starting a few days ago, I noticed that I was unable to access the nLab either from my apartment in faculty housing at the National University of Singapore, or from the Centre of Quantum Technologies located on the campus of that university. There’s no problem when I use my virtual private network to pretend I’m at U.C. Riverside. I don’t know when the problem first started, but I think less than a month ago.

The simplest explanation I can imagine is that someone has blocked an IP address that includes these locations at the National University of Singapore. Right now at the CQT my IP address is

    137.132.250.9

The problem doesn’t matter too much to me personally, since while it’s inconvenient I have a way around the problem. It would, however, be unfortunate if students at the main university in Singapore can’t see the nLab.

There has been a spambot attack on the nLab as you may have noticed. Perhaps that IP was amongst those used.

It seems it was accidentally blocked by an attempt at dealing with the recent spam attack. It should be working again now.
