Jacques tracked down the problem to the combination of Apache and Passenger and found a configuration option that is needed to have things work correctly. Of course, you could argue that this option should have been in place all along and that the incompetent lab elves should have figured this one out themselves, but instead of blaming them I propose that their pay be doubled. I still recommend that we avoid them (the + and / that is, not the lab elves), but it is nice to know that [[doriath:1+1=2]] and [[doriath:1/1=1]] are now valid page names.
