Prompted by the recent (accidental) creation of an entry isobar (nForum discussion here) I take the occasion here to highlight that iso-hypersurfaces are an example of the Pontryagin-construction, whence Pontryagin’s theorem brings Cohomotopy to bear on (a new kind of) topological data analysis, as proposed by Franek-Krčál et. al.
And I think I’ll put their references into a separate entry cohomotopy in topological data analysis – references now, to be more easily !include
-ed into relevant entries.
