    One would hope that the externalisation of an actual internal category is also locally internal. I haven’t got the time to sort this out right now, but if anyone knows if one of the references mentions this, that would be worth pointing out.

    Also, the opening line, specifying large categories, might be adjusted to “possibly large”.
