I’m splitting this discussion off from the nlab digest one since that shouldn’t get diverted.
The various recent upgrades to the nForum software have, inevitably, left a few “technical kinks” which it would be nice to get ironed out. If anyone has any remaining irritations, please let me know here, and I’ll try to iron them out.
To get started, I’ve fixed Eric’s quoting-maths bug. I can’t (easily) get it quite the same as on the nLab, in that everything works the same in both places, but there’s a “safe” syntax that works the same in both. The key is to ensure that there is a blank line after the quotation - if that is left out, then the two Markdown implementations make different decisions about whether or not the following line is still part of the quotation or not.
So here’s two different examples that work the same here as on the nLab (view source to see how they’re done):
Pythagoras said
$a^2 + b^2 = c^2$
But he wasn’t the first.
Fermat said
$a^2 + b^2 = c^2$
But it took a long time to prove it.
Whatever happened above counts as an kink imo.
(Sorry, didn’t understand that)
Uh, the entire post above mine is giving an error:
This comment is invalid XHTML+MathML+SVG; displaying source.
Fixed!
I didn’t see it because it was a bug with the image rendering of maths (img tags aren’t allowed at block-level) so only shows up in non-MathML browsers. Thanks.
Any more?
Yeah, you quoted Fermat incorrectly. (^_^)
