Jacobi identity is often considered in more general nonassociative algebras than Lie. Then it is not equivalent to the Leibniz identity. So I will rewrite the entry a bit.

The term Leibniz identity and its variations sometimes redirected to Jacobi identity and sometimes to derivation. I made them all redirect to Leibniz algebra instead.

I also added a very brief Idea section to Jacobi identity.

    Surely, thanks.

finally I understood why links to entries on Lie theory tended to keep being broken in the recent re-rendering: the Jacobi identity was an obstruction to them being re-rendered! ;-)

namely with the new stricter parser, the double square brackets that one invariably types when speaking about the Jacobi were being interpreted as wiki-link code. Since as such it wasn’t well-formed, the automatic re-rendering kept failing

(or that’s at least what I gather has been happening).

I have been fixing this now, here and elsewhere, by replacing expressions like

      [x,[y,z]]

    with

      \left[x,\left[y,z\right]\right]

though probably it would be sufficient to introduce whitespace

      [ x , [ y , z ] ]

    diff, v11, current

  1. Correct, thank you! In the end, we should probably ignore links within mathematics blocks, but what you have done here is I think the best solution in the short term, and probably helpful anyway. I had earlier done the same on a few pages.

  2. I’ve now implemented that content within tex blocks is ignored, so hopefully we should not need to make further edits of this kind.
