Something funny happened in the Sandbox a couple of days ago (Aug 20th, 21st). Whoever was editing it at the time managed to send it through some sort of escape routine before posting with the result that lots of backslashes got added. As this happened three times, that was a lot of backslashes (it’s possible that the second two edits were attempts to clean up the mess caused by the first).
This doesn’t look malicious to me at all, just someone’s browser not being configured correctly. Also, it seems to have only been the Sandbox that was edited from that IP. But reversing escapes can be a bit of a pain so if it occurs again it may be worth actually reverting the page to the pre-escaped version rather than trying to do it by hand.
(I think that properly reverting a page requires the admin password, and there isn’t currently a “view source” for pages in the history, so if you’re in a hurry then I’m not sure what’s best. Hopefully, this won’t occur often.)
You don’t need any password to rollback a page. Just go to the History, select the version that you want, then hit Rollback near the bottom. Edit if desired, else leave it alone, then Submit.
