I seem to have a vague memory that Lawvere, riffing on the word “atom”, had some sort of acronym or initialization like A.T.O.M., which stood for… I don’t remember what. (The closest I got to this via Google were two messages by Bunge on the categories list referring to atoms and A.T.O., but without explaining what it meant.) Could be something like “amazing tiny object” (“amazing” perhaps conjuring “amazing right adjoint”), or “amazingly tiny object”, or “absolutely tiny object” – I’m guessing here.
Anyone know?
