Andrew, I hope that you don't mind my asking you for help with this, and I hope that you don't mind my asking in a semi-public forum, because maybe this affects other people here.
Anyway, I can't log in to MathOverflow anymore. It ignores my old cookie and wants me to log in again with an OpenID. The OpenID that I originally used to register with is not working, and the one that I use now is not recognised. It offers to create a new account with my current OpenID, but of course that's not what I want. The help text says that the StackOverflow [sic] admins would be happy to merge my two accounts if I create two by accident, but I'm not sure how reliable that is.
Do you have any advice?
H'm, meta.MO has a sticky thread about merging accounts, so maybe that is the right thing to do.
This might have something to do with them moving where the datacentre is located due to the storms on the Eastern Seaboard. It may be that your browser has detected that the site has moved and is refusing to send the old cookies.
Merging account is an easy thing for the MO admins to do so I think the simplest course of action would be to create the second account and flag it for merging in that thread on meta.MO.
Thanks, Andrew! (Actually, the old OpenID is working now, but thanks anyway.)
OK, even more irrelevant, but… where did the Café go? More correctly, where has golem.ph.utexas gone? Today, it answered one call for me, via utoronto wireless, but it seems now to have gone deep and quiet again.
If you really want to know, you need to contact the person who owns golem.ph.utexas, which is Jacques Distler. I don’t think he is reading this forum here.
yes, but his posted email address is also on golem.etc.; but never mind.
Yeah, but if you really want to know what’s going on, you will have to contact Jacques Distler somehow, I am afraid.
On the other hand, I would suggest not to bombard him with either email or snail mail or else. I’d just wait.
