  1. I tried to insert a | in a table but this is leads to an error. Is it possible to escape this?

Your diagram is a bit big to experiment with. Could you create a small one that demonstrates the problem? Given that it causes an error, once you have an example that works post it in a code block either here or on a Sandbox (or create your own sandbox if you like).

  2. I created it under the big one. The code is

    text code | code

Interesting. There doesn’t seem to be a way to escape this character. It would therefore seem that you have to enter it as an entity: |

Also interestingly, the forum has different behaviour:

    | | |
    |---|---|
    | text | code | code |

    produces:

    text code | code

But to get the bar in the right place (assuming that the above is not it), you would have to do:

    | | |
    |---|---|
    | text | code | code |

    text | code code

    Thanks.

In this case I think I am going to do it in math mode since if I did it in the normal mode I couldn’t distinguish between code and comments by different fonts. (I could do comments in math-mode or in code-mode but this is awkward.)
