I found myself writing permutation (since I had linked to it) and realised that I could even redirect symmetric group there (which has been linked to for some time).
Pretty stubby now.
To me this now looks a bit messy. There are even two different notations used for the symmetric group on letter, as both and are used. Of course, both ARE used in practice the former in algebraic topology the second in algebra. Another point is that, given the importance of the notion os Symmetric Group, if you search the Lab on that term it is not listed as it redirects to permutation. There is a lot that can be said about symmetric groups as such, especially with regard to permutation representations and the Burnside ring. Should we split this entry?
This seems to be a fairly trivial design choice that shouldn’t need community discussion. If you can see a way to substantially improve any page by some re-organization and splitting, you should just go ahead.
