I made a note of the fact that simple high-school algebra applied to the “Archimdean definition” of pi leads to the Vieta product formula.
since definitions of the sine function should be kept in an entry of that name, I copied them to there.
Just a trivial query about terminology: though it makes sense, I had not seen the term ’hemicircle’ used before, having always rather seen ’semicircle’. Is ’hemicircle’ in widespread use?
I saw that too. Urs wrote that, seemingly in view of the parallel term hemisphere that he linked to.
