    After a long time I looked at the Authors page. It lists 7 pages of authors, but the page 7 is empty. Page 6 ends with Y and the names under Z are not listed (including my own name). I guess the page 7 as the last has been somehow skipped in generation as the last in the queue due a bug in generation script.

    I notice that TIMBERLAND and Yves Saint-Laurent are amongst the list of authors!

  4. Am taking a look at this now. Is a bit of a strange issue. Will update when I’m done. Some disturbance may be seen in the meantime.

    The problem here is with the ’will_paginate’ gem that is used to divide a long page into small ones. It seems extremely buggy, at least with the SQL queries we are using. I tried several variations, and sometimes I could get the end entries to display (including Zoran’s), but with bizarre behaviour when clicking on pages in between.

    If one turns off the pagination, the page takes an eternity to load.

    Thus, for the moment, I have turned off pagination, but have also removed the list of pages that the authors have edited. Thus Authors is now probably not very interesting, though it loads tolerably (just about) quickly (I have also streamlined the SQL query to speed it up a bit). I think that what we should have is something which expands the list of pages edited by a given author if one clicks on something. I do not have time this evening to implement it and will not have tomorrow and probably most of the weekend, but will try to do something next week. I will also alert Adeel just in case he has time to take a look and has some ideas on whether the pagination stuff can be fixed.

    There is also an obvious ’bug’ (not introduced by me here :-)) in that different names used by an author with the same nLab page so up as multiple entries for the same author. I can see if I can fix that next week too.

PS - It is possible my changes will disappear, because there is some kind of synchronisation between the nlab git repo and the server, and I made the changes only on the server for now, whilst I’m experimenting (because I cannot test locally). So if you don’t see any difference from before, that’s probably what’s happened.
