    Detection of the 21cm hydrogen absorption line expected in the CMB has been claimed now. Such a detection is thought to have implications for observational cosmology comparable in relevance to those of the recent gravitational wave detection. I have collected some original articles and reviews here in an otherwise empty entry hydrogen line

    of the proposed extensions to the standard model of cosmology and particle physics, only cooling of the gas as a result of interactions between dark matter and baryons seems to explain the observed amplitude.

    So detailed observations in coming years may give important information about this interaction, presumably.

    One should wait a little until the claim of the recent observation has been scrutinzed by the community. The authors amplify how they have delayed publication by two years in order to double-check the result, but such claims are not fully established by a single publication. Once it’s widely agreed that their signal is real, then it is time to seriously look into what this could mean. At the moment proposals for theoretical explanations are of interest mostly to their author, to establish priority.

    (Remember the 750 GeV signal at LCH a few months back. Within weeks there were several hundreds of articles proposing theoretical explanations. Then the signal disappeared again…)
