I just learned that MathML is being implemented in Chromium. I’ve been lurking on the ’MathML doesn’t work in Chromium’ issue mailing list, to wait and see what will happen. But this was shared on math Reddit just now. If people here have strong views, or know people with strong views, they might contact the people working on this. In particular, the nLab is a good test suite for MathML, that they may wish to borrow… :-)

Good news indeed! I think that the Wikipedia page on MathML is a bit outdated; I think that the same people who will be doing the Chromium implementation also improved the Webkit implementation a couple of years ago, so we could experiment with not using MathJax for Safari, for example. I use a Webkit browser myself (qutebrowser), so should be able to test.
