I edited tonight a page in my lab substrate (zoranskoda). I added few links, iteratively. Then I found that some of the changes are not there any more. Edited again, lost changes again and noticed at the end that when I pres edit, it shows in the edit box the state before today’s editing. In other words, it just accepts edits from one batch. If you start the second batch you erase the first.

I tried with other pages in my lab, like unclassified (zoranskoda) and the same problem. It accepts only changes in last edit. Next edit forgets the previous edit.

I’m observing the same problem while editing globular set.

  1. Weird! I’m extremely busy at the moment, and unfortunately will probably not have time to look at this before late this evening European time at the earliest. Apologies!

  2. I have not made any significant recent changes by the way, so the cause is currently mysterious.

  3. Hmm, I don’t think I see this issue at the Sandbox currently.

I just edited an entry on the main web, without problems.

What I did observe occasionally in the last months, and others had reported, too, is that edits indeed do not show up after “submit”. However, in each of these cases the edits were saved to the source code and would eventually apppear upon submitting any further edits.

Urs: edit did show regularly after submit – it immediately reflects in the show. But clicking on edit again shows the edit window with the state of the source in the box predating the edit already reflected in the show! So if you resubmit the edit box it will return to the previous state, erasing the edits.

That was yesterday evening, as a persistent problem, but now it seems things do work OK.

  4. Definitely needs looking into, I’ll do so asap. Thanks for reporting!

I confirm Zoran’s account. I encountered exactly the same behavior when editing globular set: I made an edit, then wanted to make a correction, so started another edit, but all my changes from the previous edit disappeared! I had to combine my correction and my previous edit into a single edit.

  5. I have some guess as to what the cause was, but need to do some digging to confirm. Will get back to you once I’ve taken a look.
